Is there an alert to say there are linked episodes?

When viewing the Referral Data tab for either IAPT or Emp referral, within the form there is “Employment Advisor Pilot” if enabled, that will say if the Episode is linked (and which other Episode it is linked to). We also want to update the Data Quality workbook to be able to indicate this.

What happens if I need to link more than one Employment episode to a Talking Therapies (IAPT) episode?

NHS England expects that a single Employment Referral Date is provided for each Talking Therapies (IAPT) episode of care. The iaptus system follows this workflow, ensuring that your reporting data is accepted for submissions. If you find that your service differs from this expectation, please bring it to the attention of the DWP and NHSE. When the rules change, iaptus will be updated accordingly.

EA – Who collects the data? Do we need to inform patients about where their data is going?

The DWP received aggregate data from NHSE based on the submission reports from providers. Patients do have the choice to opt out of being included in any reporting by visiting the NHSE website: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/opt-out-of-sharing-your-health-records/

If any patient is concerned about how or where their data is being used, please refer them to this website for further information. All data from iaptus should flow through to NHSE regardless of the patient’s consent preference as this is then managed centrally by NHSE and the SPINE system.

Can we report on therapists who have referred patients for Employment Support within the service?

If the therapist on the Talking Therapies (IAPT) Treatment episode is the referring one, then you can run the Referral Count in  Hypercube

Filters to apply:

Set the Employment Support Suitability Indicator to Yes and then group by the Allocated Therapist.

If you just want active referrals, apply the Exclude CLOSED Cases found under the Additional Filters section.

If you want to apply a date range, apply the Referral Received date range, found under the Care Pathway Filters section.

You will then receive a table by Therapist with a referral count for each, you can then click on the Referral count hyperlink to jump you into the patient table.

Does the Talking Therapies (IAPT) therapist need to keep their treatment episode open if the Employment Support therapist is still working with a patient?

With Option 2, there is no need to keep the main IAPT referral open whilst the linked employment episode is still ongoing. NHSE will allow employment support contacts to flow through in submissions even after the referral has been closed as long as they are mapped correctly with an appointment purpose of ‘Employment support’ (AppType 10).

EA – How is data about Employment submitted to NHS England?

Data about the employment status is submitted in the IDS004EmpStatus table. Data about employment support contacts is submitted in the IDS201CareContact table and the IDS202CareActivity table.  All of these reports can be found in the National reports app.

What happens if the Employment Support Suitability indicator is completed on the Employment Support (child) episode rather than the Talking Therapies (IAPT) (parent) episode?

If your service is using an Employment Treatment Type that is using the Employment Dataset, then the Employment Support Indicator is not available.

If your service is using an Employment Treatment Type that is using the IAPT Dataset and the Employment Suitability  Date and Discharge Dates are populated, these will take precedence over the received date and Referral Discharge date for that episode.
